Emergency Relief Fund

At any time, natural disasters can strike anywhere in Georgia, and the United States. The Emergency Relief Fund is designed to help those affected by these disasters. Please consider making a donation using the  WAYS TO DONATE button to help raise funds for those affected by such disasters.

This Emergency Relief Fund was used after the aftermath of the devastating May 20, 2013 tornado in central Oklahoma. The Knights of Columbus took an active role in assisting those whose lives have been turned upside down by the enormous tornado that hit Moore, and surrounding communities. In addition to providing volunteer and moral support, the Knights have worked to meet families’ financial and material needs. Along with the Supreme Council’s support, Oklahoma State Deputy-elect Ron Schwarz said that the state councils received more than $20,000 after its first appeal for donations. The Knights of Columbus Charities of Georgia received donations across the state of Georgia that contributed to the  relief effort.

The initial donations went toward the purchase of gift cards for families registering for assistance. Knights helped to set up alongside other group (e.g., American Red Cross  and Catholic Relief Services) at four multi-agency distribution centers around the devastated areas to contribute to immediate needs such as gas, food and clothing.
