Military Order of the Purple Heart

The mission of the Military Order of the Purple Heart is to honor the sacrifice military veterans made for our country by helping them make a smooth transition from the battlefield to the home land.

The program was chartered by Congress in 1958, The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat. Although our membership is restricted to the combat wounded, we support all veterans and their families with a myriad of nation-wide programs by Chapters and National Service Officers.

The MOPH's National Service Program (NSP) is by far the largest of the programs. The Order's Annual Operating Budget is over $9 million, of which $7 million goes to support the Service Program. This program operates a nation-wide network of more than 70 offices, staffed by over 100 trained Service Officers and assistants; they are accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs. In addition, the Order has a core of Department and Chapter Service Officers who volunteer to assist Veterans and their families throughout the country

.

The other MOPH's programs includes Veterans Affairs Volunteer Service (VAVS) Program, Americanism Program, Scholarship Program, Purple Heart Trail Program, and Youth Activities Program. For more details on these programs access their Facts Sheet for 2014 by clicking MORE DETAILS button.
